Christmas Events in Georgia

Hey Southerners!! Looking for local Christmas Events?! Look no further than Georgia!

Living in Georgia (and working at a museum) has its perks. I get to hear about all the fantastic events taking place around the state this holiday season. Whether you are looking for something indoors or outside, markets or historical, bright and shiny to calm and relaxed, Georgia is offering it all.

Helen, GA – 8th Annual Christmas Market

Taking place on December 5-6 and 12-13 in Helen, GA is the 8th Annual Christmas Market.

I am looking forward to heading north with my good friend Marian on Sunday!! She and I visited Belgium together in 2013 and wandered through the Christmas Markets. We have longed to return to traditional markets tasting different foods and buying local trinkets. Birmingham, Alabama is having a Christmas Market as well, but is only lasting for one day. The one in Helen last for four days!

If you are looking to wander through a Winter Wonderland in a Bavarian influenced town, head to Helen this weekend or next! You will not regret it. You may even see Marian and I!!

LaGrange, GA – Biblical History Center’s Follow the Shepherd Walks

Looking for a more spiritual Christmas event? LaGrange’s Biblical History Center offers just that. Every Friday and Saturday night in the month of December AND Christmas Eve, the museum will have tours in their Archaeological Garden devoted to the Christmas Story. Then at 7.30pm, the museum will hold a multimedia presentation directed and narrated by their founder, Dr. James Fleming.

If you have never visited this museum, then you need to arrange your trip ASAP! Biblical History Center is one of seven museums in the entire world to have a gallery of artifacts from Israel on a long-term collection. Four other notable museums that have a similar collection are the Jewish Museum in NYC. the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, the British Museum in London, the Louvre in Paris.

Impressed yet? Visit the museum this Christmas to be truly blown away!

Pine Mountain, GA – Callaway Gardens’ Fantasy in Lights

I couldn’t tell you how many times I visited Callaway Gardens in my life. Either during Christmas or any other time of the year, it is a special treat. The Fantasy in Lights may be the best thing they have to offer. I say that because it is truly spectacular. Lights dance before you bringing an army of nutcrackers to life. Does it get any better than that?!

You have the option of driving through the lights in your own vehicle or you can ride the trolley. I suggest riding the trolley as this is the best way to enjoy all the lights and music.

The Fantasy in Lights is a wonderful night spent in crisp Georgian air singing Christmas songs and watching lights dance before your eyes.
