On the Words of Forrest Gump: A Preview
Over the next few weeks, I’m going to periodically post on the words of Forrest Gump. For anyone who has seen this movie, you know all the quotable lines.
“Can’t sit here.”
“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
“Run Forrest! Run!”
“Bubba was my best good friend.”
So on and so on. Forrest Gump is filled with lines that are both comical and memorable. That is what makes it such a fantastic movie. The lines in the film were written in a way that connects to everyone on a deep and personal level.
We all have been bullied at one time or another.
We all suffered the agonizing pain of heart ache when people we loved either left by choice or were taken from us by means which we could not control.
We all found ourselves in some interesting situations.
We all have a story to tell.
My little series that I will be writing is on Forrest’s quotes on running. He begins very early in the film discussing shoes and goes on throughout the film to talk about running in various situations. At one point in the film, he takes off for an afternoon jog and ends up running for over three years. I’ll choose a selection of quotes from him with regards to running and respond to them.
The words that I will post in these responses will be very personal and in direct relation to my time abroad. As I am writing the posts (like I always have been), I will be very honest with my readers and show both the positives and negatives of living abroad, or as I have come to see this experience, the positives and negatives of running away from something.
I hope you’ll follow along and get to know me a bit better.
The first quote I will be responding to is:
“My momma always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, where they go, where they’ve been.”
Be on the lookout for it tomorrow.
