The Travel Item I Haven’t Talked About Yet
My LL Bean book bag was one of the greatest investments ever.
I remember when Mama bought me that book bag the summer before my senior year of high school presently six years ago. I didn’t even want the thing! At the time, I had used the same pink backpack for about five years. The pink one had holes in it and giant dirt marks, but I saw no reason in getting rid of it. I started my senior year with the ratty pink backpack and only transferred myself into the blue LL Bean when my mother swapped them in the middle of the night and chucked the pink one!
Griping and complaining, I began to use the navy LL Bean, and I have not stopped since.
That book bag has been carted through part of high school, all of college, and around three continents. It sneaked beer in and out of dorm rooms, stunk like mold and mildew, and stopped me from breaking a hip. I lived out of the navy LL Bean for as a week and a half once or twice, and I cuddled with it at night. It has been loaded with booze, books, and bras, and I’ve found spiders living in the pockets. I used it as a pillow on the rocky beaches of France and about broke my back because of the weight of it in Norway. It held all of my belongings on countless family road trips, and it carted all of my books in school.
To say the least, the navy blue LL Bean book bag has been through the war and back.
I am extremely attached to my backpack and have no plans to get rid of it. It is as much a part of my traveling life as my passport is. Of course one day I will break down and buy a larger pack for longer treks, but I promise you, this bag will go with me where ever I do.
Thanks Ma for buy me the backpack I so hated to carry. Have I told you how much I love it? 🙂
